What if…your executive coach prepared you for a ‘Spring Clean’ that will accelerate growth?
All too often in my field of management consultancy and business training I see leaders severely restricting their company’s growth due to their own burgeoning ‘mental clutter’.
With April approaching, stop procrastinating and, in the truest sense of a ‘Spring Clean’, tackle those troublesome decisions that you have swept under the carpet – and hoped will magically disappear!
If you answer ‘yes’ to the following questions, urgent action is required
- Do you put off letting go of the past?
- Do you avoid eliminating the under performers?
- Do you delay updating your business strategy?
- Do you steer clear of closing down unprofitable operations and clients?
1. Let go of the past
You owe it to your business, yourself and your team to constantly communicate the vision and lead them into the upturn. Avoid looking over your shoulder and keep focused on the way forward. Don’t dwell on past mistakes and celebrate your successes.
2. Eliminate the underperformers
Be brutally honest about who has what it takes to drive growth during the economic recovery – then support and develop them. It’s critical to deal with the under performers (if you can’t change the people change the people). Go and find the top talent.
3. Update your strategies
Seek out fresh inspiration and new ideas and inject them into your business strategy. Learn from new conferences and seminars, research social media opportunities; widen your network of expert contacts. The business practices and strategies that have served you until now are most likely not those which will propel you forward.
4. Bin unprofitable projects and operations
Galvanise the sales team to prune your range of products and services and your customer portfolio. Cut the dead wood that stifles growth and profitability – there’s no room for nostalgia.
